Since 1988 he studied at M. K. Čiulionis Art school, then continued at B. Dvarionas music school. He studied at the world famous G. Verdi Conservatorio di musica in Milano, in Italy. In 2010, he graduated the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and was awarded the art licenciate degree. Darius Mažintas is one of the most prominent young Lithuanian pianists. He won several international piano competitions, including the A. Rubinstein Competition (France, 2003), the International Stasys Vainiūnas competition (2000), Konzerteum (Greece, 1998), Città di Senigalia (Italy, 1996), Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte (Czech Republic, 1995), Pietra Ligure (Italy, 1997). He actively performs as a soloist giving concerts in the USA, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Sweden, Netherlands and other countries. Darius Mažintas has appeared in many prestigious music festivals, including Aspen Music Festival (USA), Westchester Piano Festival (USA), Sommerakademie (Germany), and Holland Music Sessions (Holland), where he was selected as an artist of the festival and invited to perform in the season 2010/2011 at the concert series New Masters on Tour; the last and the main concert of this tour taking place at the famous Amsterdam Concertgebouw. In addition to the solo career, Darius Mažintas works with orchestras and regularly performs chamber music. His collaborations with singers include such names as Virgilijus Noreika and Sandra Janušaitė among others. He is a frequent guest on Lithuanian Radio and TV programs. Along with his concert career, Darius Mažintas participates in an outreach programs in promoting classical music for the youth. In autumn of 2006, he developed and ran a classical music educational program in some 30 high schools in Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania. The purpose of the project was to present live classical music to the young people. It turned out to be a great success and was well received by students. For the whole project time, life classical music was heard by about 5000 students. He was vice-minister for culture in Lithuania from Spring 2013 till September 2014.
